What is the process of transforming a document into Easy Read?
In our initial meetings, we will work with your organisation to identify the target audience of your publication and the key messages and information you want included. After we have received your document(s), our first step involves reviewing the written text and extracting the key information, and transforming them into simple sentences. We also try and categorise information appropriately under relevant headings, and identify any words that will have to be defined, or any further context or assumed knowledge that should be explained. Simultaneously, we will develop a list of illustrations that the resource would require, and send it off to our illustrations team to develop any new ones that do not exist in our library already. Once the text has been finalised and reviewed, the graphic design team will design the document in compliance with the minimalistic Easy Read style and format, and any organisational branding. Once compiled, the team will deliver the document to your organisation for review. After any changes have been made, the document will either be finalised and delivered to your organisation to distribute, or it will be reviewed by a forum of people with disabilities, before being finalised.
